good development

Bad development is hurting Rhode Island.

Real estate developers are filling our cities with luxury housing when we need affordable rent and homes. Energy developers are razing our forests to build solar farms. Tech developers are pushing to install data centers that will blow up our energy bills, and state and municipal police are building a statewide surveillance system that’s threatening our privacy.

Development should be assessed on how much it helps our communities, and if it hurts more than it helps, it shouldn’t be allowed.

That’s why we will establish a new Department of Development to create good development policies and permit or deny projects with far-reaching effects on our state.
